How to Get Health Insurance for Your Next Trip to Vegas
- by admin
With the election approaching, the first part of your health care journey should be about getting insurance.
Here’s everything you need to know about that process, including tips for getting the most out of your time at the office and when to start and stop.
If you’re still having trouble getting a good quote, here’s what you can do. 1.
Make an appointment.
If you’re a business owner or freelancer, there are a few options that could get you an insurance quote that’s affordable.
If your plan is self-only or if you have a small business, you might be able to negotiate a lower premium, said Sarah LeBlanc, an associate health economist at the Kaiser Family Foundation.
You might also be able access a pool of insurance agents or agents with financial connections.
“We recommend getting an appointment to talk to a doctor or two,” LeBlan said.
The best way to get an appointment is through your doctor, she added.
You may also be asked to do some physicals, which are a good way to find out if you qualify.
“That’s usually a good time to see a therapist or counselor,” she said.
You’ll probably also want to visit a health clinic, if you haven’t already.
You can do this through a network of providers, including insurance agents and providers with financial ties to the companies, said LeBlane.
Get a referral.
You can get an insurance agent to call your office, or you can reach out to a network or insurance broker, to find a doctor.
“If you’ve got a network, you can get the doctor to sign up, or they can call you directly and say, ‘We’re here, can you talk to this guy?'”
If not, you should ask to speak to someone who does.
“The network will get the best rate,” she added, because they’ll be a trusted source.
Make a reservation.
Another option is to go online and book a room for a day.
Check out the prices.
Depending on where you live, you may have to wait a while before you get a quote.
LeBlanche said you’ll be able try several different rates, from $130 to $350 per day, depending on the type of insurance you have and whether you are a large or small business.
If the insurance rates are higher than the room rate, it may not be worth the effort.
“If you don’t have a lot of space, you’ll probably be able get a lower rate, because you’ll have more of a choice of providers,” Leblanc said.
And if you don, you could end up paying more, LeBlans said.
The best way, she said, to know how much you should be paying is to check out a company’s website and compare the rates to what you could get if you went to the same location with an insurance broker.
Book a car.
Insurance companies are increasingly relying on technology to manage their insurance plans.
That means you’ll likely need to have a smartphone or tablet to make a booking.
“Some people will pay with a credit card and pay with cash,” LeBanc said, noting that some plans don’t charge for phone or internet usage.
If that’s the case, you’re likely to be able negotiate the lowest rates, LeBanche said.
“In most cases, it’s a good idea to have some type of mobile device, and not just a smartphone,” she explained.
“It’s good for people who don’t always have a phone or tablet.”
If you want to get a reservation, you won’t want to miss the chance to do so.
“Most of the time, you don and you dont get a rate, and you can cancel if you want,” LeBranc said
